Last week the sun finally came out in Slovakia following two months of winter, snow and transport disruption. Spring is in the air. And with it the most successful Olympic Games in the era of independence (as we like to say in Slovakia). However, a deep scepticism has not disappeared. And why should it? Maďarští filmoví veteráni udělali gesto: na nejvýznamnější akci zdejší kinematografie, 41. ročníku Filmszemle (Maďarský filmový týden), vůbec nepřihlásili své filmy do soutěže. Tón udal osmaosmdesátiletý režisér Miklós Jancsó, držitel cen za celoživotní dílo z Cannes (1979) a Benátek (1990). Pan redaktor Zídek mě přímo nebo nepřímo nutí, abych psal něco o kultuře. Žiju v Pankově skoro vesnicky – vše se tu koncentruje kolem kostela a nákupního střediska, hned za humny máme i dost zelené. Kultuře se ale úplně vyhýbat nemůžu. Přesto se mi pokaždé chce psát o něčem jiném. Dnes například o tom, že mezi Čechy v ciziné patřím k těm posledním blbům. V rychlosti to vysvětlím: Nejchytřejší Češi šli samozřejmě do Ameriky, ti trochu méně chytří někam do západní Evropy – a jen idioti jako já odcházeli do Enderácka.
