Javier Marías (1951) s a Spanish novelist, translator, and columnist (El País). He is one of Spain’s most celebrated novelists, and his work has been translated into 42 languages. He is a member of Spanish Royal Academy (2006). For several years he was teaching translation at Oxforde (1983-1985), at Wellesly College in Massachusetts and at Universidad Complutense in Madride, where he led seminars on Spanish literature and literary translations. He published his first novel Los dominios de lobo (1971) at the age of 21.
